Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, Certified Childbirth Educator
My husband, Steve and I have been married for 25 years. Between us we have 5 kids, 5 grandchildren and two on the way. We are so blessed. I love and adore my family and my children have been the greatest teachers in my life. They have taught me so much about unconditional love, myself, God, them, the world around me; the list goes on and on. My hope is that you too will become students of your own children.
Dream a little. It's your labor, your baby, your birth. What does your ideal birth look like? Where would you be, who would be there, what sounds do you hear...? A happy, healthy baby and mom is of course the number one goal. But, as doula leader, Penny Simkin, states, "A woman's feelings of dignity, emotional security, and her need to experience birth as the celebration of a major life passage are also important". I believe birth has the power to transform us into confident new mothers. We are changed in ways we never imagined. The birth experience is a sacred event to be cherished and protected. And, whether you choose a natural birth or a medicated one, I would be honored to assist you in creating the optimum environment for which you and your partner labor and birth your sweet baby or babies.
Together we will build confidence in the power and the wisdom that your body already possesses. Trust. Wisdom. Confidence. We are wonderfully made. It is such a privilege to be a part of this self-discovery; to see a woman discover a strength she did not know she possessed is truly a gift.
After you bring your baby home, it would be a privilege to assist your family in the transition. It is a precious time that sometimes our society does not honor. New moms need to nurture and care for their newborns. In order to do that, moms need to be nurtured and cared for by others. There is not always someone available to offer help. I am available for postpartum support.
Jamie Davis, (DONA)
I am a DONA trained birth doula and have been serving families in the Kansas City area for over 4 years. My husband and I have raised three amazing daughters and are blessed with one of the cutest grandsons ever! Besides being passionate about birth and the families I serve, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, yoga, traveling, reading and an occasional Netflix binge.
I loved being pregnant and for the most part, my births were rather uneventful even though the first two were medically induced. I have often wondered how different my births, and particularly the postpartum period, would have been had I known then what I know now about birth. Bringing a baby into the world can be one of the most exciting, joy-filled times in our lives. But in the midst of that excitement and joy, we can often feel uncertain or overwhelmed by the unknown.
As your doula, I will walk alongside you on this beautiful journey. Together we will plan and prepare for the birth of your dreams, whether that is a natural or medicated one. I believe in the nature of birth, the strength of women and the value of experienced support during the transition into parenthood. I believe that the family bond can be strengthened by helping partners find their role in this very sacred experience. Whether this is your first pregnancy or fourth, every birth is unique. I consider it an honor to be invited into a family’s birth space and would love the opportunity to support you in your cherished birth.
